Ever since iPods came out, there has been that select few -- some call them ruffians while others call them geniuses -- that have gone above and beyond the call of duty and have tried to do whatever was possible to ensure that they would never have to pay for the songs that they put on their iPod.
The movement started out quite meagerly. The quest for free iPod songs -- at least at first -- wasn't a very successful one. Or rather, it required a level of technological knowledge that very few people were able to keep up with. Over time though and currently, practically everyone and their twelve year old brother knows the steps to go about getting free iPod songs. It no longer requires a bachelors degree in computer science and instead merely requires an iPod and a wanton disregard for breaking the law.
Know this: we do not support or condone breaking the law and downloading free iPod songs or downloading songs for iPod for free. It's illegal and it's unethical and while we can't legally come out and say that we like the people that do it we CAN say that we think the movement is a somewhat noble one. Still though, just know that trying to do these things is not going to land you into good graces with your local police station. Oh no!
Downloading songs for iPod is easy enough if you do it legally. Just download iTunes and browse through the iPod store for whatever songs you want and click buy. Downloading free iPod songs requires a bit more in the realm of computer knowledge -- but not TOO much.
Whether it be torrents, newsgroups, peer to peer or merely just transferring songs from another persons computer that was loaded with their playlist with their very own iPod, there is just a vast amount of ways to get your free iPod songs. It's easy and requires minimal research. In the interests of not going into the specifics to help abet anyone looking to break the law and download their free iPod songs, we won't. However, like we've said before, we like to cover everything we can in the realm of iPods. We cover everything -- from the top free iTouch applications to the best iPod apps for music lovers. We try and do it all. Even cover the darker side of the iPod users side of the fence.
All in all, even if you don't agree with the whole movement for the songs for iPods being completely free iPod songs -- that doesn't mean you can't at least respect what the people are trying to do. It is definitely a completely gray area when you try and look at it in black and white. Seriously, who WOULDN'T want all of their songs to be free iPod songs? Really now!
The line that is drawn however is the one in which people who starchly do not break the law -- it is just a line that they do not cross. Whether you cross the line is up to you -- not us. But just know the risks involved before you do so, because there ARE some risks involved in the whole affair.
